All on 4 - Implant Denture Toronto
What is All on 4?
All on 4 or All on X dental implant treatment is a treatment intended for patients with failing teeth or patients who are missing all their teeth. In this method of tooth replacement, all of patients teeth are replaced by artificial teeth that are being supported by implants that are placed into the jaw bone. Since these implants are stable within the jawbone, so is the resulting prosthesis. Say goodbye to floppy dentures and say hello to a new way of chewing and speaking. What is involved in the initial consultation?
In the initial consultation, Dr. Mobini reviews your pertinent medical history, examine your oral and facial structures and evaluate your bones through a 3D x-ray. You will then be interviewed thorougly to find out about the treatment goals that you desire. Since each patient is different, we tailor our treatment plans to match your expected treatment outcome. These information will then be used to construct a treatment plan that suites your needs. We then will review the surgical procedure in full and go over all aspects of the treatment with you.
How is the procedure carried out?
Although it is possible to receive only freezing or intravenous sedation, we usually recommend to have the procedure done under complete general anesthesia. This method ensures that Dr. Mobini can carry out the procedure in the most optimal and safest way. Following the surgery, which usually takes around 2 - 2.5 hours, you will wake up with new implants and prosthetic teeth in place. You will then recover in the recovery area, where we will discuss the post operative instructions with you and your company. You will then be sent home with some instructions, pain medications and antibiotics.
Are there any follow ups required after the initial surgery?
Yes. To ensure all aspects of the treatment are carried out to excellence, we follow up multiple times with our patients after this type of surgery. You will initially have a follow up with our prosthodontist or your general dentist a few days after surgery to ensure that the new teeth match to the surrounding structures inside your mouth and to alleviate any sore spots. You will then have a 2 week follow up appointment to evaluate your initial recovery from the surgery. At the 3 month mark you will have another follow up to examine the stability of your implants and assuming that all goes well by this point, you will have the new teeth fully supported and attached to the implants at around 4 - 6 month mark (depending on the quality of your jaw bone). Although these are the minimum number of appointments we expect you to have, at any point you would like to be seen you can simply contact our office and we will arrange for a follow up appointment with Dr. Mobini.
