Instructions before IV Sedation and General Anesthesia

  • You may not consume any food or drinks for eight (8) hours prior to the procedure.

  • No smoking of any kind for at least 12 hours prior to your procedure.

  • No smoking of cannabis and cannabis containing products for at least 48 hours prior to the procedure.

  • A responsible adult (over the age of 18) needs to accompany the patient to the appointment, stay either in the office or in their car (during COVID-19 pandemic), and accompany the patient home following the procedure.

  • You may not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following receiving general anesthesia (or IV sedation).

  • Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.

  • Contact lenses, dentures, jewelry and any oral or nasal piercing must be removed prior to the procedure.

  • Please refrain from wearing lipstick, excessive makeup or nail polish on the day of the procedure.

  • If you have recently been sick or have experienced flu-like symptoms, cough, nasal congestion or sore throat please notify our office.

  • If you take routine oral medications, please check with Dr. Mobini prior to your surgical date for instructions. In general, morning medications can be taken on the morning of the procedure with a sip of water.
